About us

Michael grew up in Eastern Long Island, NY, and has called Barcelona home since 2010. He started sailing when he was 8 years old, and it quickly became his main sport. He is an avid competitive sailor with experience in dinghies and keelboats. He graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy in 1999, where he was the Captain of the Dinghy team.

He holds an Unlimited Tonnage Master’s License, and is currently the Captain of the Maersk Iowa, a 300-meter container vessel that trades between the USA and Northern Europe. He started Red Sky Sailing Barcelona in order to transition his career from the deep sea to spend more time with his family.
